Modvion is happy to announce that they have got featured in Vestas’ 2024 Annual Report as part of their sustainability statement.
Vestas has been recognised as the world’s most sustainable energy solutions company and ranked third overall in the Corporate Knights Global 100. Securing a top-three position for four consecutive years highlights their unwavering commitment to sustainability—making their tower technology a seamless match for their decarbonisation strategy.
Here is the statement from the annual report:
“In 2021, Vestas invested in Modvion, a company specialising in modular sustainable wind turbine towers made from laminated veneer lumber (LVL). LVL is a low-carbon material sourced sustainably, offering significant carbon emission reductions compared to steel or concrete towers, as wood stores carbon when trees grow. Thus, more emissions are stored in the tower than emitted during the production process. Vestas aims to support Modvion’s scale-up strategy and integrate LVL towers into our design and manufacturing processes. This collaboration will help Vestas offer sustainable, cost-competitive solutions, enhancing transportation ease and providing cost-effective tall towers.”
Modvion provides tall wind turbine towers, minus the carbon emissions. This caught Vestas’ attention and led to an investment from Vestas Ventures in 2021, installed a commercial 2MW wind turbine in 2023 and are now integrating wooden towers into Vestas’ technology.
