Mirka celebrates winning two awards at this year’s Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2025. In this global contest, the DEXOS® 1217 M AFC dust extractor and the DEROS® RS 600 sander were both recognised for their exceptional designs. Although this double win is remarkable, Mirka has won the Red Dot Award before. The company’s Sanders have already won awards, including the DEROS in 2014, the AOS-B in 2017, and the LEROS in 2018.
Stefan Sjöberg, CEO of Mirka, is pleased with the recent success of the contest. He shares, “Winning such a prestigious award as the Red Dot Design is always an honour. Winning it for two products in the same year is twice as special. Still, the greatest reward is knowing we are staying true to our user-centred approach to design. It’s one of the ways we uphold the trust our customers place in us.”
Mirka’s New Dust Extractor Impresses
The DEXOS victory is particularly noteworthy for Mirka because this new device marks a daring advancement in the company’s dust extraction line. The general manager of Mirka’s power tools division, Veli-Pekka Västi, emphasises that DEXOS has made a good first impression and that the new dust extractor line’s potential and market influence are just getting started. “With the launch of the first product from the DEXOS platform, we have set a new standard for professional dust extractors. It is by far the most user-friendly, intelligent, and effective product in its segment on the market. Additionally, it can become even smarter through future software updates.”
The accolades of 2025 are just one more feather in the cap for Mirka’s product development, demonstrating the company’s proficiency and inventiveness. At Mirka’s production facility in Jakobstad, Finland, both items are produced locally.
