MiCROTEC has secured an order for a Logeye scanner with X-ray technology from VELJEKSET VAARA OY, a fourth-generation family-owned sawmill in Finland. This installation will be the northernmost Logeye setup in Europe and the second Logeye system in Finland equipped with X-ray. The system is slated for installation in Q3 2025.
VAARA specializes in high-quality pre-painted exterior cladding products and CLT log blanks. Their innovative product VAARA Stabil™ is a non-settling CLT-log, that ensures stability, energy efficiency, and design flexibility for modern timber construction.
“The Vaara wood products factory was looking for a solution that enables the maximum utilization of valuable wood at all stages of production, from logs to high-quality end products. MiCROTEC was best placed to meet this challenge.” – Jukka Vaara, CEO Vaara Group.
MiCROTEC’s Logeye multi-sensor scanner combines laser, color, and X-ray technologies to provide precise log data. This advanced system improves sorting and cutting optimisation by analyzing key parameters like overbark and underbark diameter, length, curvature, taper, and internal quality features. With its durable hardware, modular design, and state-of-the-art technology, the Logeye will guarantee top-quality production and maximum efficiency at VELJEKSET VAARA.
“We are proud to partner with VELJEKSET VAARA and bring our advanced Logeye scanning technology to their operations. This installation highlights the growing demand for precise and efficient log scanning solutions that support both sustainability and profitability in the wood industry.” – Mika Toikko, Sales Manager, MiCROTEC.
