Metsa Group takes proactive steps towards enhancing its operational efficiency by bringing the maintenance operations of its plywood and Kerto LVL mills in-house. Currently entrusted to the industrial maintenance firm Quant, this vital aspect of operations will soon be seamlessly integrated into Metsa Group’s own organisational structure. With a signed agreement on April 24, 2024, between Metsa Group and Quant Finland and Quant Estonia, the baton of maintenance responsibilities will transition to Metsa Group’s capable hands, marking October 1, 2024, as the scheduled date for this strategic transfer.
The Finnish Competition Authority has approved a business arrangement whereby Metsa Group will integrate the maintenance operations of its plywood and Kerto LVL mills in Finland into its own organisation as of October 1 2024. As regards the maintenance operations in Estonia, the business transaction is still subject to approval by the Estonian Competition Authority.
Approximately 150 people in total, the Quant employees working at Metsa Group’s plywood and Kerto LVL mills will transfer to the service of Metsa Group starting from October 1 2024 through a transfer of business. “Maintenance is an important part of Metsa Wood‘s industrial efficiency. For the past seven years, we have been developing maintenance operations and occupational safety in cooperation with Quant. As a next step, we will integrate the maintenance operations into our own organisation and further strengthen the productive cooperation between maintenance and production”, says Jaakko Anttila, Executive Vice President of Metsa Wood.
