Metsä Fibre has announced the appointment of M.Sc (Engineering) Antti Eskola as the new Sawmill Manager of its Renko sawmill, effective 1 November 2024. Eskola brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles within Metsä Group, where he was responsible for procurement and contract management for the Kemi bioproduct mill project. He has also played a key role in several strategic procurement initiatives and held various positions within the company’s procurement division.
In his new position, Eskola will report to Virva Juhola, Senior Vice President of Production for Metsä Fibre’s sawmill business. Metsä Fibre, a leading player in pulp and sawmill production, is known for producing not only sawn timber and pulp but also bioproducts such as biochemicals and bioenergy, all derived from sustainable northern wood as an alternative to fossil-based materials.
In 2023, Metsä Fibre recorded sales of EUR 2.5 billion and employs around 1,600 people. Metsä Group, the parent company, achieved sales of EUR 6.1 billion and is owned by more than 90,000 Finnish forest owners through the Metsäliitto Cooperative.
This appointment highlights Metsä Group’s continued commitment to leadership in sustainable wood product manufacturing and innovation.
