The Polish woodworking and furniture sectors are on the cusp of a significant technological leap. As the global timber industry navigates increasing pressures from rising raw material costs and demand for greater efficiency, innovation has become the key to maintaining a competitive edge. It is in this dynamic environment that Metal-Technika, a Polish manufacturer renowned for its advanced industrial machinery in Poland, is poised to make a monumental statement. At the highly anticipated DREMA 2025 International Trade Fair in Poznań, the company will introduce an innovation that promises to redefine wood drying: an entirely new vacuum dryer designed with unparalleled flexibility. This marks the first public unveiling of such a machine in Poland, positioning Metal-Technika at the forefront of the industry’s evolution.

The premiere of the new vacuum dryer is a strategic move for the company, signifying its official entry into a new and critical market segment. For years, Metal-Technika has been recognised for its expertise in optimising cross-cut saws, complete automation systems, and specialised drilling machines. This latest venture into vacuum drying technology demonstrates a bold commitment to expanding its portfolio and addressing a fundamental need within the timber supply chain. Piotr Falana, the Sales Director at Metal-Technika, shares the company’s vision for this new direction. “This is a novelty that we believe will genuinely surprise our customers,” he states. “We are embarking on the production of vacuum dryers, a completely new path for us. To ensure we deliver a superior product, we have partnered with a specialist in this field. The first machine is already in production.”

The mechanics of the new vacuum dryer

The core of this innovation lies in its unique engineering and user-centric design. Unlike conventional dryers that often present logistical challenges, Metal-Technika’s new machine is built for maximum operational flexibility. Its standout feature is the dual-loading capability, allowing wood to be loaded from both the top and the side. This simple yet revolutionary design choice makes the loading and unloading process significantly easier, saving valuable time and labour. The machine also incorporates an integrated crane for handling heating plates, further streamlining the workflow and enhancing safety.

Beyond its loading system, the dryer’s compact and modular design introduces another layer of utility. Constructed to be transportable by truck, the machine can be easily moved between different facilities. This portability opens up new possibilities, including the potential for a mobile wood drying service—a concept that could be a game-changer for smaller businesses or those operating in remote locations. Falana emphasises this point, noting, “The innovation in this case is in the way the material is loaded. Our dryer can be opened from both the top and the side, which simplifies loading and unloading immensely. It’s also been engineered to be compact, so it can be easily transported and deployed in various production environments.”

To prove its value, the first unit will be utilised as a demonstration and rental machine. This hands-on approach will allow prospective customers to test the dryer in their own plants, experiencing its advantages over traditional convection dryers firsthand. By offering this trial period, Metal-Technika is not only building confidence in its new product but also actively collecting valuable feedback to inform future iterations. This customer-centric strategy is consistent with the company’s philosophy of creating solutions that directly address the real-world needs of the industry.

While the vacuum dryer will undoubtedly be the star of the show, Metal-Technika’s presence at DREMA 2025 will feature a broader display of its technological capabilities. The company is set to showcase a range of other key innovations, each designed to boost productivity and streamline operations for its clients. Among the highlights are:

Next-Generation optimisers: These advanced optimisers operate on a concept of global optimisation, offering greater efficiency and flexibility in material utilisation. By minimising waste and maximising yield, they contribute directly to a company’s bottom line.

Comprehensive process automation: Metal-Technika will demonstrate fully integrated production lines and automated material handling systems. These solutions, from simple setups to complex, end-to-end systems, have the potential to increase production efficiency by dozens of percent, helping businesses scale and meet growing demand.

Through-feed drilling machine for turned beams: A custom-engineered project, this specialised machine can perform over 20 holes per minute. Its remarkable speed drastically reduces the need for manual labour and accelerates production timelines for specific, high-volume tasks.

Metal-Technika’s decision to launch its vacuum dryer and other innovations at DREMA 2025 underscores the fair’s status as a premier platform for the Central and Eastern European woodworking industry. As the largest event of its kind in the region, DREMA provides an ideal stage for companies to debut new technologies, forge partnerships, and shape the future of the sector.

The introduction of the side-loading vacuum dryer marks a new chapter for Metal-Technika, signifying a calculated risk and a commitment to diversification. By entering this new market with a uniquely designed, customer-focused product, the company is proving that it remains a forward-thinking and responsive player in a competitive landscape. As the woodworking industry continues its push toward greater automation and efficiency, innovations like these will be crucial for businesses seeking to thrive in the years to come.
