At its maiden appearance at LIGNA in Hanover, ErgoTak, an automation specialist from Baldone, Latvia, was excited to showcase a creative innovation: the new ErgoSticks automatic stick applicator.

Timber stacking is about to enter a new era of efficiency owing to the ErgoSticks module’s fully automatic stick application technology. ErgoSticks are made with a unique stick elevator, step feeder, and roller applicator combination that guarantees ideal stick separation and accurate placement. According to its creators, ErgoSticks operates entirely without the need for human intervention, in contrast to traditional techniques that depend on high platforms, manually loaded cassettes, and intricate reconfigurations.

The Latvians claim that because operators can quickly change the amount of sticks per layer and stick spacing, it provides unparalleled versatility and processes stick bundles with ease. As a result, production is greatly increased, labor expenses are decreased, and setup time is considerably reduced.

In real-world situations where stick quality and consistency might vary, the ErgoSticks module is reportedly made to function flawlessly and quickly with subpar sticks. While the retrofittable design guarantees complete compatibility with current stackers, offering a cost-effective upgrade route to full automation with minimal disturbance, the operator-friendly interface makes it simple to adjust parameters.

“We were proud to introduce the ErgoSticks to the global woodworking industry at LIGNA 2025,” exclaimed Dainis Ozolins, spokesperson for the ErgoTak brand. He continued, “This innovation redefines stick application technology by combining full automation, flexibility, and ease of use, enabling woodworking stores to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently.”
