The five-star furniture firm Creative Homes Scotland resides in Glenrothes, Fife. Throughout Scotland, the business creates, produces, and installs custom, high-quality furniture. Creative Homes is currently collaborating closely with Leitz Tooling, its primary supplier, to grow the company, optimise production, and guarantee high-quality goods. Leitz and Alan Goodsir, the company’s owner and director, have become close over the past three years.
Creative Homes, a new player, received valuable recommendations and setup support from Leitz to kickstart their manufacturing journey. “Steven from Leitz offered us valuable tooling advice, and he worked closely with our machinery supplier to get us set up with the correct tooling, including recommendations on cutting speeds and RPMs. Leitz also introduced us to a system to avoid downtime and ensure there is always a tool on the machine, one ready for use and another tool off for sharpening. We don’t have to worry about the tooling side of the business anymore.” Alan acknowledged.
Creative Homes manufactures kitchen surface tops using Krion® solid surface, challenging to machine due to its non-porous composition, causing heat-related issues during machining. Leitz Tooling introduced Creative Homes to the BrillianceCut saw blade with innovative tooth geometry for excellent cutting in materials like Krion®. Tooth geometry ensures high-quality cuts on tough materials. Alan noted, “The new blades cut through material like butter, with much less wastage and no chipping. Doing it right the first time has been invaluable”. Superior quality finishes save costs and time by reducing rework, making BrillianceCut an economical choice for solid surface and plastic sawing with up to 20 sharpens.
Leitz suggested Alan switch to the Diamaster Pro3 router cutters, resulting in increased efficiency due to faster cutting speeds. Real Z3 design increases cutting speed by 50%, reducing cycle times. “Introducing the Leitz PCD routers on our CNC has had a positive impact on quality, thanks to greatly reduced chipping. The finish quality also means we get better cuts when edgebanding.”
Creative Homes uses ThermoGrip heat shrink chuck to enhance router cutter efficiency and tool life by combining the tool and chuck in a stress-resistant body, promoting higher feed rates and reducing tool wear. This technology extends tool life, allowing for faster cutting at up to 36,000 min-1. Leitz measures tools accurately to 3 decimal points, eliminating the need for test cuts. The ThermoGrip chuck’s small nose aids chip removal.
Creative Homes benefits from the Leitz tool service program, addressing manufacturing challenges and ensuring cost-effective tool performance while maintaining efficient and sustainable operations. Leitz’s accurate sharpening services across the UK support Creative Homes effectively. All things considered, Creative Homes has been able to maintain its focus on producing top-notch kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms thanks to Leitz’s assistance. Because of its strategic cooperation with Leitz Tooling, Creative Homes Scotland has undergone tremendous development. Creative Homes has improved the quality of its custom furniture, cut expenses, and expedited its manufacturing processes by utilizing Leitz’s trailblazing tooling solutions and skilled sharpening services.
