Responsible wood sourcing is of primary importance to Koskisen.
Koskisen’s wood procurement takes into account the diversity and vitality of forest nature and enables forest regeneration and ensures that there is enough wood as raw material for future generations as well. The wood used by Koskisen is mainly certified and it is mainly procured from Finnish private forest owners.
Koskisen’s wood procurement principles are based on laws, national forest management recommendations, PEFC certification and the Forest Environment Programme for the Sawmill Industry. The principles are also followed by the partners implementing measures for Koskisen, which ensures uniform practices.
“In all procurement, we use a chain of custody system (PEFC, FSC) that enables the traceability of wood. The origin of the raw material is always checked so that the forests in protected areas are safeguarded and wood is not sourced from controversial or illegal sources. We also comply with the requirements set by the Deforestation Regulation in our operations.” – Koskisen.
