Komatsu offers newest digital solution: MaxiFleet to simplify the forestry

Digital advancements in the forest machine industry continue to evolve rapidly. MaxiFleet – the digital solution offered by Komatsu, has provided an all-encompassing tool to streamline daily operations, whether it’s managing machines, collaborating with colleagues, or making informed decisions. Now, they are ushering in a new era of intelligent digital solutions where the familiar features of MaxiFleet are integrated into an innovative concept known as Smart Forestry.

Smart Forestry is best described as a collection of digital solutions that help make the workplace safe, smart, productive and sustainable. Komatsu has been working on producing smart and sustainable products for woodworking industry as well as forestry.

The concept encompasses our digital solutions – including all the features currently offered by MaxiFleet. However, Smart Forestry is a broader concept compared to their previous offering, and the company’s goal is to develop it into a platform where we, together with customers, partners and other stakeholders, can create new types of value-creating solutions.

At this point, Smart Forestry consists of three different applications, making it easy to find the best solution for every woodworking and forestry professionals.

Let’s get a deeper insight:

Fleet Monitoring provides with full control over an individual’s machines, with the ability to plan remotely and all the necessary remote control functions – including support.

Vision includes all functions for practical map layers, collaboration between operators and the ability to monitor all production in real time.

Precision provides the ability to use the latest positioning technology to simplify the working day and reach new levels of precision for the work.

Sustainability is an important part of Komatsus history and their brand purpose; to empower a sustainable future where people, businesses and their planet thrive together. Therefore, they constantly look forward to invent some extraordinary technology to make the forestry more advanced.

Komatsu has taken on the challenge of becoming CO2-neutral by 2050. But already in 2030, they have a joint target in Komatsu to reduce CO2-emissions by 50% from their production and the use of their machines. An important step in this direction was when Komatsu Forest in June 2023 declared their production in Umeå, Sweden, to be CO2-neutral.

In line with Komatsu’s goal to reduce CO2-emissions from the use of their machines, they are working on several parallel activities, of which the electrification of Komatsu forest machines is a focus area.
