Kastamonu, one of the leading enterprises of Russia’s wood processing industry, has received a diploma of the republican competition for the best achievements in the field of energy saving and energy efficiency improvement.

The winners were awarded on April 19 at the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the Tatarstan International Forum on Energy and Energy Resource Efficiency (TEF). Kastamonu became the prize winner in the nomination “Light industry, food industry, and wood processing industry”.

Ali Kılıç, CEO of Kastamonu Russia: “The government award and high appreciation of company’s achievements in the field of energy saving are especially valuable for Kastamonu. We are upgrading production and every year we make more and more efforts to reduce the volume of energy consumption, resources, and reduce the impact on the environment. This is one of the primary goals of our company.”

The Kastamonu plant has an efficient recycling system: due to the new-generation wastewater treatment plants, wastewater is purified in several stages – mechanical, chemical and biological, and then it is used again in production processes. This makes it possible to significantly save natural resources and reduce the volume of wastewater disposal. The company also uses its own energy sources – eco-friendly gas turbine installations.

In addition, the company practices separate garbage collection and annually sends hundreds of tons of industrial waste for recycling, and at the same time it processes some of them on its own. Thus, in 2021, about 700 tons of waste of polyethylene and plastic, paper and cardboard, as well as scrap of ferrous and non-ferrous metals were sent for recycling.

The group of companies of Kastamonu Entegre was established in 1969 as a part of the Hayat Holding. The company specializes in the manufacturing of MDF wood boards, particleboards, laminate flooring, door skin panels, and glossy panels. The consolidated turnover of Kastamonu Entegre amounts to $1.7 billion. The annual production of wood boards is 6.5 million m3, laminate flooring – 70 million m2.
