IVM Chemicals brings new antibacterial acrylic system

 Thursday, September 24, 2020

The new Cromasept “Silver Power Plus”, a multilayer acrylic system from IVM Chemicals – gives surfaces long-lasting antibacterial properties. Especially in times of a pandemic, people pay more attention to pathogenic microorganisms and the spread of multiresistant bacteria. The latter in particular are multiplying ever faster and making antibiotics increasingly ineffective. Giving surfaces antibacterial properties could at least help slow this development to a certain extent. With this in mind, the IVM Chemicals brand Croma Lacke is now launching Cromasept “Silver Power Plus” – a range of surface applications with a long-lasting effect.

According to the manufacturer, the new 10:1 multilayer acrylic system can be used to create antibacterial surfaces on all types of furniture. “Extensive laboratory tests have shown that coating surfaces with Cromasept “Silver Power Plus” inhibits the multiplication of bacteria, making it possible to reduce bacteria such as E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus by 99.9 percent within 24 hours,” explains Alexander Kollat, General Manager of IVM Chemicals. As the name suggests, the antibacterial effect is based on silver. The way Cromasept “Silver Power Plus” works means no additional biocidal disinfectants are required. Another impressive feature is that there is no reduction in the antibacterial effect, which ensures long-term protection. The matt and gloss surfaces produced by the colorless coatings feel amazing. What’s more, Cromasept “Silver Power Plus” can be used as a top coat for existing, colored surfaces.
