The new generation of format saws and spindle moulders from Martin is characterized by its cloud-based, patented control concept. With the award-winning ConnectControl, users receive a powerful system that opens up the world of modern data exchange to them.

The state of the art in the operation of stationary standard woodworking machines is dominated by electronic controls that are permanently connected to the machine. A multifunctional use of the existing control electronics is usually not given. Also, these controls are only connected to the internet in exceptional cases, primarily during maintenance. With its control concept Connect-Control, Otto Martin Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG takes into account the increasing digitization of the working world, which is becoming increasingly important for communication in traditional trades. Modern companies and their employees are increasingly working with electronic work documents such as tablets, which carry all relevant work documents and have become a central means of modern communication.

Smart operation

It made sense for the developers of the Bavarian company to take this development one step further and use the tablet as an extended machine control. With the tablet or the corresponding app, users have extensive machine operation extensions that run on the 7″ screen permanently installed on the machine. In addition, access to data managed centrally in the company, such as order data or tool information, is ensured via the tablet or the associated cloud application. Every machine equipped with ConnectControl can be operated without a docked tablet and an online connection, but without the possibility of communicating ‘outside’.

Mobile extension

The multi-stage operating concept makes it possible to efficiently expand the electronic support of the operator directly on the machine through the intelligent combination of a mobile tablet with a 7″ touch screen permanently installed on the machine. In addition, the tablet ensures communication between the machine and work preparation as well as between the machine and, for example, the construction site. The tablet as the central working device ensures that work processes are organised even when there are changes that flow into the company from outside. Here is an example of the short-term plan change by the client, which flows seamlessly to the machine. Neither outdated work instructions nor outdated drawings have to be exchanged, everyone has the current status directly at hand at all times.
