IMA Schelling has launched the HL 1 high-performance plant, an innovative solution designed to meet the demanding requirements of cutting to size in batch sizes of 1. This advanced system combines unparalleled flexibility with high productivity, making it an ideal choice for manufacturers seeking efficient and adaptable production processes.

The HL 1 plant’s modular design allows it to be tailored to individual needs, offering a variety of installation options and performance classes. The basic version of the HL 1 system can achieve an output of up to 20 parts per minute, using a rip-cut saw for strip production and a cross-cut saw for simultaneous cutting of four strips. Alternatively, the HL 1-Concept version, which employs only the cross-cut saw, can produce both strips and components on a single saw line, with an output of up to 8 parts per minute.

David Schelling, Cut-to-size Product Manager at IMA Schelling, emphasized the flexibility of the HL 1 system: “We’ve designed the HL 1 cut-to-size plant as a modular solution, providing users with a high degree of flexibility. Depending on the production strategy and available setup area, we can respond to any of our customer’s requirements.”

The HL 1 plant can be configured in various layouts, including inline, angled, horseshoe, or even multi-level arrangements. This versatility extends to the cutting process, where components requiring re-cuts are efficiently guided back to the cross-cut saw, optimizing space utilization.

Recently, the HL 1 impressed a major kitchen manufacturer with its performance, leading to the development of a customised solution capable of producing up to 6,000 components on a four-lane saw. This setup underscores the system’s ability to deliver maximum productivity in automated production environments.

IMA Schelling’s HL 1 plant represents a significant advancement in wood processing technology, offering a tailored, high-performance solution that meets the specific needs of modern manufacturers.
