Hymmen hosts successful 3rd Tech-Together Exhibition

On October 8 and 9 , Hymmen held its 3rd edition of the Tech-Together in-house exhibition at its technical centre in Rödinghausen, Germany. Despite ongoing market challenges, the event attracted strong attendance from several European countries, with visitor numbers matching those from the previous event two years ago.

Tech-Together, organised in collaboration with other regional machine manufacturers, showcased a range of innovative production technologies. Visitors were treated to live demonstrations of Hymmen’s digital printing, pressing, and coating systems, as well as its cutting-edge Industry Intelligence solution, smart2i. A major highlight of the exhibition was the unveiling of new technologies for producing engineered wood, which garnered significant interest from attendees.

Live Demonstrations and Latest Innovations

During the two-day event, visitors had the opportunity to explore Hymmen’s latest technological advancements in action. Demonstrations of the Digital Lacquer Embossing (DLEplus) technology, used to produce the “Hymmen Collection 2024,” allowed attendees to observe the production process up close and examine flooring samples through a tactile experience. Hymmen also showcased its digital décor printing capabilities, utilising UV-drying and water-based technologies on various materials, including panels and roll-to-roll printing in multiple widths.

Additionally, large format samples, featuring striking high-gloss and super matte finishes, were on display. These samples, produced using Hymmen’s Calender Coating Inert (CCI) technology, served as eye-catching examples of the company’s expertise.

For customers in the engineered wood sector, Hymmen introduced a new in-house laboratory press, designed for high-pressure processing of materials such as SWP and plywood. This press enables testing of pressing processes with customised glue application, and samples produced using this technology were available for viewing on the double belt press.

Smart Solutions for Production Control

A standout feature of the event was the live demonstration of Hymmen’s smart2i Industry Intelligence solution. Attendees were able to observe real-time data collection, cloud-based analysis, and production optimisation through user-friendly dashboards. This system, which integrates seamlessly with Hymmen and third-party equipment, provides valuable insights for improving efficiency across production lines.

To complement the live demonstration, a presentation on production control was delivered by guest speaker Ingo Laqua from CIM Aachen on 8 October. This was followed by a case study from Dirk Conrad of Hesse Lignal, who demonstrated the practical benefits of the smart2i solution in their operations. These presentations provided attendees with real-world examples of Hymmen’s technology in action.

A Platform for Innovation and Collaboration

Since its inception in 2021, Tech-Together has evolved into a key event for the woodworking industry, offering a platform for machine and plant manufacturers from the OWL region to showcase innovations and foster collaboration. “It’s about highlighting innovations, exchanging ideas, and shaping the future of woodworking together – and that’s exactly the spirit we felt again this year,” said Almut Rademacher, Managing Director of the OWL-Maschinenbau industry network.

The event featured participation from leading companies, including Düspohl Maschinenbau GmbH, Heinrich KUPER GmbH, Jowat SE, Karl Heesemann Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG, and others.

Hymmen is already looking forward to welcoming visitors to the fourth edition of Tech-Together in two years’ time.
