HOMAG Technology Days at Holzbronn open scopes for exploration

The HOMAG Technology Days from March 12 – 14 in Holzbronn left the visitors all inspired with the state-of-the-art technologies for perfect cutting and intelligent storage in furniture production, timber construction and trade. In addition to machines, cell solutions and digital products and production methods, the focus was on personal dialog with visitors.

Perfect entry-level solution: Optimized SAWTEQ S-300/S-400 flexTec robot saw
The SAWTEQ S-300 / S-400 flexTec robot saws have an integrated robot and are technically engineered so that they can carry out batch size 1 production unmanned over longer durations. Alternatively, the saws can be operated manually – flexibly and as required.

HOMAG has developed a new base model of the SAWTEQ S-300 / S-400 flexTec robot saws in response to the increasing shortage of skilled workers – particularly in medium-sized companies. Thanks to individually configurable components, this offers the full range of functions for half- and fully automatic production at a more cost-effective price. Based on the base model, the parts output, flexibility in automatic mode and ease of operation in manual mode can be increased as required.

The innovations at a glance:
Robot and base: Latest robot generation of robot, adapted robot position and revised robot base.
Aligning the panels (individually configurable component): In the basic model without an alignment device (panels are pushed out and aligned by robot), optional alignment “on-the-fly” or with alignment device possible.

Advanced labeling on the pressure beam (individually configurable component): In the basic model, labels can be applied fully automatically at the angle ruler. The Premium version with individual labeling positions is available as an option.

Redesigned parts buffer: Redesigned construction including support surface made of grooved MDF.
Air cushion table area (individually configurable component): In the first aisle with one-piece folding air cushion table and as standard three insert plates in the second and third aisles. These can be removed when switching to manual mode and hung on the protective fence. Optionally, fold-down air cushion tables can also be fitted in the second and third aisles.

Swivel and tilt multi-touch display: New operating position on the pressure beam including quickTip – the assistant for optionally adjusted machine.

Manual label printer (individually configurable component): Not included in the basic model, but optionally available for even more flexibility in part labeling.

New functions in woodStore 8: proactive, efficient and forward-looking
Another highlight of the Technology Days in Holzbronn was the storage technology. In addition to the new storage range, HOMAG presented the new quickTip and intelliStore AI – Offcuts functions of the woodStore 8 storage software for the first time. HOMAG has once again demonstrated how artificial intelligence and machine learning can sustainably improve storage management. The storage not only makes the best decisions independently based on data, but also proactively reports to the machine operator to exploit the full storage potential.

The innovations at a glance:
1) quickTip: The assistant for optimum storage management

quickTip is a new assistance function integrated into the HOMAG storage management system for maximum quality, ease of use and performance. It proactively supports the machine operator with recommendations – so that the full storage potential can be always utilized. The advantage: All quickTips are listed centrally in woodStore – this makes work easier, improves stock management and enables simple panel handling.

2) intelliStore AI – Offcuts: Sets new standards in terms of offcut management

intelliStore AI – Offcuts enables the automatic storage of offcuts on defined stacks of panels distributed in panel storage – depending on the variety of panels and parts portfolio, this reduces stock movements by up to 40% and optimizes the use of space. In addition to storing offcuts on panel stacks, automatic offcuts can also continue to be stored in classic offcut storage locations. A combination of both methods is also possible – woodStore Analyzer continuously evaluates the storage data and shows which method is the most efficient. This reduces storage movements in relation to offcuts, increases flexibility and performance and optimizes space utilization and energy requirements.

Production cell including offcut management: The HOMAG STORETEQ F-100 single axis feeder in conjunction with the SAWTEQ S-300 flexTec and SAWTEQ S-200
One of the machine innovations in the Holzbronn showroom is the STORETEQ F-100 single-axis feeder. Equipped with a storage location, the automatic panel feeder enables fully automatic production including manual offcut management on the SAWTEQ S-200 and SAWTEQ S-300 flexTec. A special feature of the cell is the simple and intuitive control via woodStore – naturally also from both saws. Good to know: Automatic panel handling with the STORETEQ F-100 is now also possible thanks to an integrated control system on the nesting machine.

Cleverly combined: STORETEQ P-300 storage system, SAWTEQ S-320 flexTec saws and SAWTEQ S-300 and CENTATEQ N-210 nesting system
The combination of storage, saw and nesting is a prime example of the wealth of possibilities for panel processing. The combination is particularly tailored to companies that process both rectangular and free-form parts. In addition, the storage, sawing and nesting machines are equipped for a wide variety of materials. The machines understand each other perfectly thanks to the easily compatible software solutions. A continuous data and material flow is crucial for smooth interaction.

Digital solutions live and in color
It is not only innovative machine technology that ensures optimum cutting, the use of digital solutions also plays an important role here. With intelliDivide and Cut Rite, HOMAG provides one with powerful solutions for optimum cutting that meet your individual requirements.

intelliDivide
We’ve all been there: manually creating cutting patterns creates additional working hours in work preparation that could be put to better use elsewhere. Creating optimizations with just a few clicks, minimizing the additional time required and achieving efficient results? This and much more is offered by intelliDivide – the web-based optimisation software for panel dividing. True to the motto “Simple. Easier. intelliDivide”, the cutting optimisation software’s user-friendly interface allows all the necessary information to be recorded at a glance and optimisations to be created in no time at all.

The special features at a glance:

Flexible use for all saw types,
Simultaneous calculation of several solutions, e.g., minimum waste, low material costs, shortest machine running times or simplest handling,
Creation of individual templates or use of existing template templates for deliberately holding components together and cutting in a predefined arrangement,
Direct communication with other apps and digital assistants ensures consistent workflows and uniform data.

In addition to the two solutions for cutting to size, other digital products were also presented, such as the SmartWOP CAD/CAM system for simple and fast construction of furniture using drag-and-drop or the productionManager, also known as the digital order folder, including all new functions and all innovations relating to the new woodWOP version.

Intensive dialog and valuable contacts
The Technology Days in Holzbronn, which focused on cutting and storage technology, offered an excellent platform for establishing valuable customer contacts and exchanging ideas with all visitors in direct dialog.

Successful in-house trade fairs are always a team effort from all areas of the company based on market-oriented products. The positive feedback from customers is a great motivation for all HOMAG employees and an incentive for the future.
