Henkel inaugurated inspiration centre Düsseldorf

Henkel recently inaugurated its brand-new Inspiration Centre Düsseldorf (ICD). The ICD is a significant component of the company’s strategy framework for intentional growth and represents the single largest investment in its history. The adhesive technologies business unit has spent the last few years constructing a cutting-edge and distinctive global innovation and customer centre on the grounds of the company headquarters, and has been gradually commissioning it since mid-2021.

The total investment till date is 130 million euros. The ICD has a floor area of 47,000 square metres and can accommodate more than 650 Henkel professionals in addition to 30 laboratories and 4 technology centres. Adhesive Technologies exhibits its whole technology portfolio of adhesives, sealants, and functional coatings in the new building, which also functions as a worldwide customer centre, and collaborates on new solutions with clients from more than 800 different industry sectors.

Focus on reduction of CO2 and building a circular economy

The new ICD is distinguished by its cutting-edge R&D facilities, digital technology, and inspiring work atmosphere. State-of-the-art laboratories are modularly designed to be adapted flexibly and swiftly according to the research and development task and also to ease teamwork. The ICD is the most environmentally friendly structure at the company’s Düsseldorf location. It is built to be resource-efficient, has a system for collecting rainwater, extremely effective refrigeration, and complies with building insulation standards. ICD is focusing on expanding its portfolio in support of a circular economy, and CO2 reduction intensive research and development of alternative formulations. These formulations are using recyclable or renewable raw materials and cutting-edge technology like Debonding on Demand. Over 650 Henkel professionals may operate in an inspirational atmosphere on a floor space of 47,000 square metres thanks to an investment of 130 million euros in the contemporary structure, comprising of 30 modern labs and 4 technology centres. “The ICD reinforces our commitment to further strengthen our globally leading portfolio and know-how in materials science and to create value for our customers,” added Jan-Dirk Auris, Executive Vice President Henkel Adhesive Technologies. “We offer our employees here an inspiring working environment that promotes knowledge exchange and daily collaboration and uses state-of-the-art technologies.
