Processing elements with varying thicknesses in a single pass
High-speed height adjustment, Heesemann’s newest technology, experienced its international premiere. Using different drives, each unit in the machine’s height can be changed separately and independently of the others. Different workpiece kinds and thicknesses can be processed in the same pass thanks to this individual height adjustment. According to Heesemann, the entire operation occurs at a high pace of 25 millimeters per second, which is eight times quicker than with traditional machine height adjustments. The benefit is that components like fronts, frames, and carcasses can now be handled in a single pass by the sanding machine and downstream painting systems rather than needing to be treated separately. Since components of a whole kitchen, for instance, can be picked simultaneously, this reduces time-consuming and expensive sorting efforts. It is claimed that this technology, which was initially created for an American kitchen manufacturer, may achieve excellent production efficiency by cutting the throughput time from two minutes to twelve seconds.
All Edges Experience Uniform Edge Breaking
Another invention from Heesemann is the RUL flap roller unit, which is intended to process very deep profiles and provide perfectly uniform edge breaking on all edges. Six revolving satellites make up the RUL unit, and each one is equipped with a sanding flap roller that is 300 millimeters wide. No other brushing method on the market, according to Heesemann, can process workpieces as intensively from all directions as the satellites’ orbit with their revolution around both vertical and horizontal axes. Pressure rollers can be used in addition to a vacuum to secure the workpieces on the conveyor belt because of the special kinematics. This is a distinct benefit, particularly for long, narrow parts and workpieces with distortion, the East Westphalian company claims.
Huge Possibilities for European Furniture Producers
OSR (Orbital Scratch Removal) is another technological advancement that Heesemann has planned that will be very appealing to clients in other countries. The grain direction cannot be prevented when sanding frame parts or other workpieces with multiple grain directions. Using dark stains makes the ensuing sanding marks quite noticeable. Sanding markings are thoroughly eliminated by the OSR. The OSR unit’s vibrating, stationary sanding belt eliminates the sanding marks left by the upstream sanding equipment. Heesemann reports a smooth surface with no colour differences after staining, primarily used in American 5-piece door machines. This technology holds potential for European furniture manufacturers to differentiate themselves in the domestic market.
