With this year’s motto ‘The human being. The forest. Life,’ Forest Owner’s Reception 2023 event in Berlin was brimming with excitement. The event was organised by AGDW – Die Waldeigentümer on January 19, 2023 for the first time after a corona-related break.

Cem Özdemir: “The commitment of the forest owners is impressive”. Federal Minister Cem Özdemir spoke to almost 1200 guests at the traditional reception of forest owners on the eve of the Green Week in Berlin: “I am impressed by how committed forest owners are to discussing the future of forests in Germany. The stakes are high: for forestry enterprises and for our climate. Our common task is to make the forest ecosystem fit for the future. With our forest-climate package, we therefore support adaptation to the consequences of the climate crisis and the promotion of biodiversity. I am looking forward to the good exchange.”

This year, the Hessian regional association was co-organizer of the reception of forest owners. The Hessian forest owners were supported by the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, which presented itself together with HessenForst on a special area. On the podium: Carl Anton Prinz zu Waldeck und Pyrmont, AGDW Presidium Member and President of the Hessian Forest Owners Association, the Hessian Minister of the Environment Priska Hinz at the microphone and AGDW President Prof. Andreas Bitter.

Prominent guests include representatives of the federal ministries and the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, as well as numerous members of the Bundestag and state parliaments, association and business representatives, and a large number of forest owners from all over Germany.

Interests are mostly represented at the national level, but they are also represented at the European and global levels. Additionally, the association participates in several institutions. As members of the International Alliance for Family Forestry IFFA and the Central Association of the European Forest Owners’ Association CEPF, forest owners largely influence European and global forest policy.
