Firstwood Vietnam enhances wood processing with Paul optimisation saw

 Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Firstwood Company Ltd., located in Vietnam, specialises in wood processing, specially in producing dining room furniture and dressers for the American market and has become a devoted user of Paul optimisation cross-cut saws. The partnership between Firstwood and Paul began in 2020 when Firstwood invested in a pre-owned optimisation cross-cut system from the German machine manufacturer. After experiencing significant benefits such as enhanced availability, reliability, ease of use, and material savings, Firstwood decided to phase out its manual under-table cross-cut saws in favor of the advanced C11_MKL optimisation cross-cut saws from Paul. As a result, the company ordered three new cross-cut saws of this model in the same year.

“The C11_MKL is a through-feed cross-cut saw for small to medium cross-sections with a separate measuring station in which the workpiece length and the manually marked wood characteristics are precisely recorded before the cross-cutting process,” explains Michael Brosy, sales representative at Paul. The MAXI 8 control system uses this data to calculate the optimal cutting result based on stored parts lists.

The compact machine in the C11 series is designed for a long service life and guarantees precise and clean saw cuts at a high cycle rate. It can be expanded to a high-performance system with automatic error detection and high-performance mechanisation components through modular upgrades. Optionally, cross-quality value optimisation maximises added value and yield.

Owner Scott Luu reported that the implementation of optimisation cross-cutting systems led to a significant reduction in waste, by a double-digit percentage. Given current wood prices and material consumption, the investment in these systems paid for itself within just a few months. He also expressed great satisfaction with the swift response times, excellent support, and high-quality service provided by local dealer Truong Hung Machinery, conveniently located about an hour’s drive from Firstwood.

“My employees thought I was crazy when I told them that I wanted to buy ten optimisation cross-cutting systems at once. But for me, after my experience with the first cross-cutting systems from Paul, it was the only right decision,” said the satisfied customer.

After delivering these ten cross-cut saws, Firstwood recently invested in a fourteenth optimisation cross-cut system, meaning that the Vietnamese company can now use its Paul systems to cut all of the material for its furniture production. Firstwood Company Ltd., with its 1,000 employees, can proudly call itself the operator with the most optimisation cross-cut systems of the C11_MKL type.
