Felix Schoeller is committed to reimagining paper to create sustainable packaging solutions that enhance everyday life, embodying their brand promise, PAPER MADE FOR LIFE. In line with this vision, the specialty paper manufacturer is pioneering new approaches in packaging with their recyclable FlexPaper and PrimePaper—delivering flexibility, printability, and high-quality coating without compromise. Attendees at FACHPACK, taking place from September 24 to 26, 2024, at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center, can experience these innovative products firsthand. Felix Schoeller will showcase their recyclable barrier papers at Stand 234 in Hall 4A.
“We are thinking about paper further, consistently continuing the path away from plastic and concentrating on our main raw material, paper, and showing that PAPER MADE FOR LIFE is not just lip service,” says Andreas Bergmeier, Sales and Product Senior Manager Packaging. “As a partner for high-quality, customised paper solutions and technology leader for barrier coatings, it is rather an expression of an honest pursuit of packaging with real added value for our customers.” Andreas added further.
This approach is realised in the packaging sector through a diverse, market-ready product portfolio, developed by our in-house teams, product experts, and refined with valuable feedback from test customers. With FSC®-certified specialty papers like PrimePaper and barrier papers such as FlexPaper—composed of up to 95% paper and certified for recyclability by Cepi 4evergreen—Felix Schoeller is already capable of replacing many types of traditional packaging, thereby contributing to the reduction of plastics in the value chain. Their papers are compatible with standard packaging machines and are suitable for direct food contact.
FlexPaper pure are sealable and, with a 95% paper content, are approved for disposal in waste paper. They have excellent mechanical strength and deliver the best printing results in gravure and flexographic printing. Only FSC®-certified pulp from sustainable forestry, without optical brighteners, is used in production. High opacity and dimensional stability guarantee packaging with a real paper experience.
FlexPaper barrier is sealable with 85% paper content, very good barrier properties and excellent mechanical strength, high opacity and dimensional stability. The special paper, which is also FSC®-certified, offers the best printing results in gravure and flexographic printing.
PrimePaper impresses with its natural look and feel and is nevertheless excellently printable using gravure, flexo, offset and inkjet processes. It is made from renewable raw materials and has high opacity and dimensional stability. The variable basis weight is between 30 and 150 g/m².
All of Felix Schoeller’s sustainable paper packaging solutions are the result of 129 years of expertise in specialty paper production, close collaboration with the most innovative minds in the industry, ethical production practices, and a commitment to networked action. The aim is to progressively replace traditional packaging materials with renewable resources and, through global partnerships and alliances—from raw material sourcing to shelf placement and disposal—to foster a circular economy that will benefit future generations.
One example is their close collaboration with Suzano, the world’s largest producer of pulp and one of their main sources of eucalyptus fiber. Planting 1.2 million trees every day, Suzano is known for its exceptional commitment for reforesting degraded areas, restoring biodiversity and promoting social development.
