Engineered Floors, based in Dalton, has been a pioneer in the industry with its pure colour solution-dyed fiber for carpeting. Now, the innovative flooring producer heralds the arrival of the next evolution in hard surfaces. Engineered Floors is once again disrupting the flooring industry with its cutting-edge “Digital Print LVT” technology.

The Pure Grain HighDef-technology is the first luxury vinyl tile made in the US that employs digital print technology to create high-resolution designs directly on a high-density SPC core. Hymmen, a machine and plant building company from Bielefeld, Germany, is the technology partner of Engineered Floors, providing the award-winning and patented technology for the digital decor and structure printing of the flooring.

The flooring products

“LVT reinvented.” This is the opener of the latest image video of Engineered Floors, Dalton. Using digital embossing technology, a grain structure is built up on the surface of the board creating an exact texture match to the design.

This provides the closest authentic wood look and feel compared to any product on the market. Each decor starts from real wood, designed with 35 unique plank patterns compared to traditional film products. With high-resolution digital printing, it is possible to achieve sharper details and a vivid colour
spectrum like never before! The increased dots per inch (DPI) lead to the High-Def colour clarity allowing Engineered Floors to create industry-disrupting products. The flooring producer emphasises that there is 5 x more color clarity with the digitally printed products compared to traditional film products. And additionally with the flooring product PureGrain not only the design but also durability meets unparalleled features and benefits.

The flooring offers the authentic look and feel of real wood, catering to a variety of tastes with its range of modern light finishes and darker designs. Suitable for any room, including living rooms, bedrooms, halls, and even bathrooms, thanks to its water resistance and durability. Engineered Floors emphasises that PureGrain products are 100% American made, sourced, and owned, ensuring quick and easy access without the need for international shipping. Additionally, the digital printing directly on a high-density rigid core for exceptional realism is unaffected by potential international trade restrictions.

Numerous points of sale have already been placed and the interested customers can ask their flooring installers or can have a look at the PureGrain Flooring of Engineered Floors at numerous dealers that are all persuaded by this new product that has entered the American flooring market.

Strong technology secured by patent partnership

The capability to produce high-quality digitally printed flooring has become strategically crucial for the future of the global flooring industry. Hymmen has pioneered and patented innovative technologies for the production and digital decoration of flooring. In partnership with i4F®, a group of companies specializing in patents and technologies, Hymmen aims to deliver the world’s most advanced technologies to the global flooring market. This partnership grants i4F® exclusive licensing rights to all of Hymmen’s digital printing patents and technologies for flooring production, including the award-winning Digital Lacquer Embossing (DLE) technology.

Project Management with Hymmen and future plans

Following the initial contact in May 2021, a large-scale product evaluation began at the Hymmen technology center in Rödinghausen, Germany, in collaboration with technology partner i4F®. By November 2021, contracts were signed, paving the way for the plant project’s realization. This included detailed engineering, production, shipping, and mechanical and electrical installation. Production officially commenced in August 2023.

“From the beginning of the project the cooperation between the teams of Engineered Floors and Hymmen was very close. Upcoming challenges could be solved easily in the transparent and trustful atmosphere by the involved experts of both sides,” emphasizes Dr. René Pankoke, CEO and
managing partner of Hymmen.

“Digital print LVT is the future and at Engineered Floors and the future is now! Our pure grain HighDef LVT is the next generation of hard surface flooring. We will move the industry forward together with this latest innovation,” points out Mike Sanderson, VP Product Marketing at Engineered Floors. Engineered Floors counts on the Hymmen technology and already plans to widen the Atlantic-crossing partnership by increasing their capacity with the German machine and plant manufacturer.
