One month left to DREMA, a renowned Trade Fair of Machines, Tools and Components for the Wood and Furniture Industries in Poznań, scheduled from September 12 to 15. Poland is well known as one of the biggest furniture producers. The share of wood-related industry in spurring national economic development and its overall importance for European market attract significant attention of leading woodworking industry players. DREMA is certainly the point of reference in such regard.

In the light of coming exhibition, according to the Polish furniture industry, last month (July 2023), Polish Central Statistical Office published dataset on furniture market dynamics covering the period from January to May 2023 and it reports the value of PLN 25.5 billion.  Comparing to the subject period of the previous year there is an overall decrease of 4,2% to be attributed to the joint effect of mutually occurring challenges globally. In addition, forecasts made by the B+R Studio – specialized company with wide branch contacts and deep experience in Polish market – demonstrate very high degree of coherence with newly arrived official data. The values are expressed in current prices i.e. include the impact of inflation.

The number of units produced keeps the pace with the sales. It should be however considered that the listed groups of furniture surveyed by the Central Statistical Office account for approximately 25% of the total production volume of the furniture industry. Nevertheless, the accuracy of the trend is undisputable.

To better understand the underpinning reasons of such statistics, and to enhance industry’s resilience in the future, trade fairs – as powerful mediums – are of essential importance. They bring together the whole segments of the value chain at one place and by doing so, they create the space for new markets and opportunities. Latest trends in technology and innovations are indispensable precondition of competitiveness and investment returns. Finally, side-events and conferences made either for the experts or vast audience are added value towards knowledge intensive industry.
