On October 14, 2024, CERAMIN, the innovative material developed by CLASSEN, was awarded the prestigious German Design Award in the “Winner” category, recognising its exceptional design quality and sustainable features. This award sets the benchmark for innovative design developments and honours products that excel in their functional design while making a significant positive impact on the sustainable transformation of the economy.
The German Design Award, presented by the Rat für Formgebung, is one of the most esteemed international design awards. Since its establishment in 2012, it has identified key design trends and celebrated extraordinary achievements across product design, communication design, and architecture. For the 2025 awards, entries were submitted from 59 countries, with 48% of the submissions coming from international participants. Winners are chosen by a distinguished international jury comprised of leading experts from various design disciplines, all with a clear focus on addressing customer needs and market demands. The award not only highlights outstanding design quality but also emphasises the transformative potential of design in driving sustainability.
CERAMIN was selected for the “Winner” award due to its innovative properties and outstanding design. This PVC-free material is primarily made from recycled components, featuring an environmentally friendly blend of 60% mineral filler and 40% polypropylene (PP). This composition positions CERAMIN as a sustainable alternative to traditional wall and floor coverings, while also being incredibly durable and robust. Its exceptional dimensional stability, moisture resistance, and abrasion resistance were key factors that impressed the jury.
In addition to the German Design Award, CERAMIN has garnered numerous accolades in recent years, including the Green Collection Award, the German Innovation Award, the Eifel Award, and the Interzum Award. These recognitions underscore CERAMIN’s high level of innovation and the CLASSEN Group’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, sustainable flooring solutions
