Cefla

Cefla Finishing introduces advanced technology to achieve edge match the flat surface, perfectly and offers complete solutions to furniture manufacturers. On the growing trend for flat panel decoration is the desire to make the surface of the panel match its edge perfectly. Until recently, this was an unsolved requirement. However, Cefla never leaves an issue unresolved, and have soon developed an innovative solution involving industrial digital printing that enables a perfect match, plus a series of extra benefits.

There are a number of issues facing many furniture manufacturers, such as lead times unable to cope with the increasing demand for personalisation. Small production batches are also a growing phenomenon that requires substantial flexibility. Another issue, when it comes to a high degree of personalisation and variability, is the difficulty in matching edge patterns and colours with the flat panel surface. Some manufacturers are overcome with stockpiles of engraved rollers and colours or hundreds of rolls of decorative paper, plus the need for stock service ensuring a number of replacement items.

Reducing the need to stock rolls of decorative paper, engraved rollers and colours or stock service ensuring a number of replacement items.

Apart from the skills needed to deal with digital images:

 – limitless customisation possibilities

 – very small production batches (10 – 100 sqm)

 – lead times go from a few hours to a few days

And with a digital print file, user can be 100% sure that the pattern and colours on edge and surface are perfectly matched. Elaborating the digital image for both tasks is the first step. Using the same inks where possible optimises the match.

One advantage of this technique is the reduced lead time. Just imagine a few panels, customised, no more than 50 square metres. One week is enough between concept and execution. Too expensive for a rotary printer, this would also require between one and two months. Using decorative paper, it can be quick, but either you produce large quantities (no customisation) to reduce unit costs or accept high costs and reduce the overall quantity.
