Carbotech Group is pleased to announce a collaboration agreement with Finnish company Finnos, positioning Carbotech as the exclusive distributor of Finnos’ innovative products. This partnership aims to enhance wood grading technology in sawmills and planing mills.
Strengthening Technical Support and Expertise
Through its Autolog business unit, Carbotech Group will collaborate with Finnos on projects involving X-ray systems and wood grading for both hardwood and softwood species. Autolog’s expertise will provide local technical support to customers, ensuring the successful implementation and optimization of these advanced systems.
Pioneering AI-Based Scanning Technology
Founded in 2016, Finnos emerged as a pioneer in the sawmill industry’s digitalization era, specializing in AI-based scanning technology. The company offers superior X-ray solutions for sorting logs and transverse scanners for grading sawn timber. Finnos has grown from a small team of seven to over 130 professionals, driven by rigorous product development and niche expertise. With 120 X-ray systems installed across 13 countries, Finnos is a global leader in manufacturing X-ray systems for logs. Recently, the company has expanded its operations to North America, with two systems now in use.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Finnos on business development and optimization projects involving internal and external scanning systems for different species of wood. With this partnership, the two companies will be able to combine their respective expertise in wood analysis to achieve superior performances,” said Éric Michaud, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Carbotech Group.
Expanding Capabilities Through Strategic Acquisitions
Carbotech Group’s journey began with the acquisition of Autolog in 2021, a company specializing in optimizing and automating sawmill and planing mill processes. This acquisition was followed by the integration of Sawquip, a sawmill equipment specialist, which has since been rebranded as Carbotech. These strategic moves have enabled Carbotech Group to offer turnkey equipment solutions for the sawmill industry. Over the past 37 years, each business unit within the Group has consistently provided innovative solutions to the industry.
With this new partnership, Carbotech Group and Finnos are set to revolutionise the wood grading technology landscape, combining their extensive expertise to deliver superior performance and innovation to the industry.
