Beaulieu International Group acquires renowned Congoleum Flooring to solidify its presence in the USA

Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G.), an international leader in flooring and material solutions, headquartered in Belgium, has taken a pivotal move to strengthen its position in the North American market with the definitive acquisition of U.S.-based Congoleum Flooring.

Through its subsidiary, New Congol LLC, B.I.G. has acquired the operations and substantially all assets of Congoleum, a pioneer in resilient vinyl flooring with a legacy dating back to 1886. The transaction includes Congoleum’s valuable intellectual property, product portfolios (including luxury vinyl tile, rigid core, and sheet vinyl), and two U.S. production facilities located in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, and Cedarhurst, Maryland.

The agreement is a strategic move that secures the future of the respected Congoleum brand while allowing it to leverage B.I.G.’s extensive global resources and financial backing.

• U.S. market commitment: B.I.G. CEO Jean-Baptiste De Ruyck confirmed the deal reinforces the group’s “long-term commitment to the U.S. market,” enhancing its capacity to deliver a broader range of superior flooring solutions.
• Operational expansion: The acquisition expands B.I.G.’s operational footprint in North America, adding significant manufacturing capacity and a team of approximately 270 experienced employees.
• Brand continuity: Congoleum, known for its technical innovation and strong product performance, will continue to operate its brand under the new ownership, ensuring continuity in product availability and service for its customers and business partners.

The transition follows Congoleum’s successful operational turnaround since its 2020 restructuring, reflecting a strategic decision to align with a global partner capable of investing in the brand’s long-term growth and innovation in the competitive resilient flooring segment.
