In a period marked by uncertainty and challenges in the construction industry, BAU 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials, and systems, has once again proven its pivotal role in driving innovation and fostering resilience. From January 13 to 17, the fully booked Trade Fair Center Messe München hosted over 180,000 visitors and 2,230 exhibitors from 58 countries, despite the fair being shortened by one day.
The event showcased cutting-edge trends and solutions focused on key themes such as resilient, climate-friendly construction, resource efficiency, and modular, cost-effective building methods. With international exhibitors making up 52% of participants—a record for the event—and visitors from 44% of global markets, BAU demonstrated its status as a hub for global collaboration and progress.
Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Messe München, reflected on the fair’s success: “BAU provides courage and confidence, especially in these times. The positive response from exhibitors and visitors underscores the industry’s resilience and commitment to innovation.”
Notable highlights included inspiring talks from leading architects, special forums on urban transformation and sustainability, and the debut of the Founders Fight Night, a competition spotlighting start-ups in a boxing-ring-style showcase.
Exhibitors and industry leaders lauded the event’s impact. Andrea Gebhard, President of the Federal Chamber of Architects, emphasized, “Sustainability has transitioned from an objective to a guiding principle for the industry.”
With a strong focus on the future, BAU 2025 set the stage for advancements in construction technology, climate action, and sustainable urban development, reaffirming its role as the premier platform for shaping the construction world of tomorrow.
The next BAU is scheduled for January 11–15, 2027, in Munich, with digitalBAU returning in March 2026 to spotlight construction software solutions.
