Raute reports a serious workplace accident occurred at their project installation site in China on April 15, 2021. Raute’s employee was seriously injured and later died as a consequence of falling pressed under a lift platform.
This unfortunate accident occurred in connection of maintenance work of lift platforms in a project site where, in addition to Raute, also several other operators were working. During a break of Raute’s assembly team, one security locking in the lift platform of a lay-up line was removed by another operator due to misunderstanding based on lack of information, and when returning to work, Raute’s assembler fell pressed under the lift platform.
“Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family and colleagues. We have informed the personnel working with the project on site and are giving them the needed support. Raute is committed to protecting the health, safety and environment of our people, customers, partners and the communities where we operate. Everyone has the right to a safe work environment. Investigation of the accident has been started and corrective actions will be implemented to continuously improve our processes and routines to ensure safety,” says Tapani Kiiski, President and CEO of Raute Corporation.
Raute has initiated an incident investigation, in co-operation with the customer, local authority and other operators at the site.
