A quick and short conversation with Sachin Pendharkar, Managing Director, Dieffenbacher India from the floors of IndiaWood.
Tell us about your presence in the Indian market?
Sachin Pendharkar: In India, Dieffenbacher is present for last 13 years. We have established our office in 2007 in Bangalore which is the woodworking hub for all the European companies. So, last 13 years we are present in India.
What are your expectations from this edition of Indiawood?
Sachin Pendharkar: This year, after a gap of two years we are expecting that the market will grow in terms of the wood based panel industry. Still, there are some challenges with respect to the Government licenses and everything but we hope these things can be sorted out as early as possible and we hope that the wood based industry will grow in the near future.
What are the marketing strategies going forward in 2020?
Sachin Pendharkar: At the moment, the most of the discussions are based on the Agrofibers. These are the alternative raw materials as compared to wood because of the pollutions are happening in India mostly on the rice straw and bamboo based boards. So, this is just the initial discussion happening in the market. People are more willing to understand the implications, consequences and the advantages of these alternate raw materials.
What are you primarily showcasing here?
Sachin Pendharkar: Basically we are turnkey plant suppliers, so our machines are not here but our whole idea and whole purpose is to show what we can do with different raw materials in terms of making the boards.
