Wintersteiger continues growth with fresh acquisition

Wintersteiger continues business growth in a positive way by acquiring German machine builder HEMA. From January 1, 2022 onwards, Wintersteiger AG implements its control after completing the formalities of mergers and acquisition of Heermann Maschinenbau GmbH in Frickenhausen, Germany. Hema has produced finest band saws for years. The saws are perfect for using on different kind of materials.


The HEMA group is a reputed company that includes approximately 50 employees. It has all develops, produce, sells band saws for all kinds of material and applications. They are specialised in cutting lightweight and insulating materials. They are known for their export business with a ratio of 90% based on the business year. In the year 2020, their business turnover reached over 8.5 million euros. Hema is also one of the specialists and a technology and quality leaders in a niche sector.



Wintersteiger enhances services in the domain by improving support quality on acquisition of Hema. Hema is known for offering technical solutions to the Woodtech Division that includes thin-cutting saw machines, saw blades, mobile and stationary sawmills, automation solutions, and timber repair systems are set to enhance the product portfolio of Wintersteiger. Hema is therefore set to expand its division in terms of skills and application. Apart from the timber, other materials will come to the forefront too, and in this regard, Lightweight foam, aramid honeycomb, construction, insulating materials, and technical plastics are given prime importance.

The managing partners of Hema, Markus Bleher and Christoph Heermann, will continue to stay involved in the company. The latter states the reason for selling the shares, “Wintersteiger and Hema have been partners in regard to our saw bands for many years. The time has now come for us as a family to drive forward our global expansion more quickly and aggressively. Having Wintersteiger on board puts us in a better position to focus on our specializations and to become part of an existing structure. In addition to the complementary nature of each firm’s products, we both share a similar corporate philosophy. Mr. Bleher and I will continue to remain on the Management Board.”
