REHAU takes growth oriented course

 Monday, November 30, 2020

The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of the logistics centre and the extension of the REHAU plant in Triptis, Germany, took place in April 2019. Now, after a good one and a half years of construction, the new high-bay warehouse could be put into operation, albeit without a festive ceremony due to the current Corona location. However, this does not diminish the pride of those responsible on site: “Just two weeks after commissioning, productivity increases in the incoming goods processes are clearly noticeable,” says plant manager Dirk Liebezeit.

“Triptis is the logistical heart of the Building Technology division,” explains Dr. Roger Schönborn, Head of the Building Solutions division. More than half of all order items for the sub-division in Europe are shipped from here. And the future prospects for the division are positive. “We are planning for significant growth in the coming years. We are currently creating the necessary structures for this. For the expansion of the logistics center alone, we are investing around 19 million euros by the end of 2021,” emphasizes Schönborn. A new dispatch hall, which has been in operation since March 2020, and truck waiting areas to alleviate the traffic situation have already been built. The next step will be to move the warehouse stock from an adjacent hall to the new high-bay warehouse so that the final construction phase can be completed.

Since the beginning of November, products for panel heating and cooling as well as drinking water and house drainage have been stored on more than 12,000 pallet spaces.

Since most of the processes in the new high-bay warehouse are highly automated, the security concept was adapted to the new conditions and employees were specially trained for the new tasks in advance. “The complete training and further education of colleagues on site is an important part of the new effectiveness and ensures that we can continuously increase our delivery performance”, explains Liebezeit. Additional jobs will also be created at the Triptis site, which the plant manager is particularly pleased about. But it’s not only experienced specialists that are being sought, apprenticeship training positions are also still available for 2021.
