Paper will be the new black this September in Helsinki, as PEFC Finland launch their third Wood Works event, teaming up with Finnish designer and artist Justus K, a specialist in paper fashion and experimental design.
From 5 to 11 September 2016, the PEFC Wood Works x Justus K installation will bring together paper and clothing in spectacular style! Visitors to Diana Park, in the heart of Helsinki, will be able to have a go at weaving, make a warrior headpiece or a wristband to take home, and discover how paper can be an innovative new material.
The highlight of the week will take place on September 9, as the park’s bronze statue of Tellervo, the goddess of the forest, gets dressed up in a brand new outfit handmade of paper yarn.
This installation is part of the official Helsinki Design Week program and aims to demonstrate the journey the sustainable paper makes from the forest to the consumer, while showcasing innovative ways to work with paper.
