Maderalia

Maderalia’s new president is Alejandro Bermejo. The organising committee for the ancillary industry for the furniture, wood, and carpentry sector, which will be held in conjunction with FIMMA in 2024, has been led by the 45-year-old Valencian industrialist since Francisco Perelló’s departure. After more than 15 years in the role, Perelló is leaving Maderalia. During his tenure, the timber biennial rose to become the premier gathering for the sector in both Latin America and southern Europe.

Bermejo expresses how he is “thrilled” to be taking over and “very eager to get started” with preparing the next edition of the fair. The most recent event in 2022 saw FIMMA + Maderalia overwhelmingly exceed even the greatest expectations. Over 35,000 trade visitors attended the grand event – 10% more than the previous edition, with the best part being a positively recovering international market.

Bermejo has set himself the challenge of “enhancing how the fair addresses the challenges that are emerging in this era of digitalization and sustainability”. Maderalia’s new president comments in this regard that “fairs should be a key meeting point for everybody involved in the industry: business owners, customers, specifiers, agents and so on. This fair is needed more than ever before and is on the facing what is going to be a period of significant challenges that we need to address by promoting the value of every aspect of the industry”.

Extensive industry experience
Alejandro Bermejo, a business leader with a dedicated career in the industry and this particular field, was born in Valencia in 1977. Bermejo played a key role in the founding of Alto Turia in 2000 thanks to his advanced degree (Técnico Superior) in Environmental Health from the Universitat de València. Since then, the company has established itself as a major player in the competitive markets for hardwood products, wood flooring and cladding, and contract projects. With its products reaching markets around the world, the company already credits exports for 15% of its annual revenue.

Bermejo also frequently participates in fora held by the major associations and representative entities for the sector. He has served as president of ASEMAD (the Comunidad Valenciana Association of Carpentry and Associated Businesses) since 2017 and FEVAMA (the Comunidad Valenciana Federation of Timber and Furniture Businesses) since 2020. Alejandro Bermejo participates in a number of working groups for both the Valencia Chamber of Commerce and Comunitat Valenciana Confederation of Businesses (CEV).
