The 26th IHF in Innsbruck’s preparations are in full swing. The timber construction industry is finally here again to gather for their annual meeting, after the much unfortunate pandemic hiatus. On the bright side, FORUM HOLZBAU can look to the positive build development of the 25th IHF. The spectacular show that the previous version, i.e., 2019 was, it had hosted 2,450 participants, exhibitors and sponsors at the congress centre. Grand preparations for the 26th IHF is being designed in the provided schedule, from Wednesday to Friday and invitations are underway for the exhibitors to come and join the regal show.
Offers good solutions to the changing framework conditions
Industry meetings like the International Timber Construction Forum hold much vitality, especially in times of continuous technological development like the recent times. On the contrary is, of course, to report on successfully completed construction projects. But at the moment it is probably even more important to look to the future, because the building industry is facing great changes, in terms of markets, raw materials and the energy to extract them – and all this quite simultaneously! Due to its broad spectrum of participants, the IHF offers good conditions for information and solutions to the changing framework conditions. The Lignum Switzerland association will moderate the IHF kick-off event on November 30 in the morning. The event will centre on securing the technological lead in timber construction over the competition, the requirements of the real estate and housing industry for timber construction, and the planning tool BIM.
Specialist topics will be explored in depth in four IHF prologues. The architecture prologue (Prologue 1), chaired by Prof. Hermann Kaufmann, will discuss under the title “Serial versus individual”. In the prefabricated construction prologue (Prologue 2), market changes in the timber value-added chain will be discussed, such as the entry of new market participants, moderated by Georg Lange from the prefabricated timber construction association BDF. At the start of the IHF Core Forum (Thursday, 1 December), Dr Denny Ohnesorge from the HDH will provide an update on the implementation of the political Charter Wood 2.0 and the status of wood use in the building industry. Following this, futurologist Matthias Horx will reflect on adaptation through change in (expected) times of economic crisis.
