The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), has declared that it will be holding its next European Convention in the historic Hungarian city of Budapest from October 24 – 25, 2013 at the Intercontinental Hotel.
This event will provide an opportunity to discuss and share ideas, debate current issues and highlight opportunities for growth. It is also a chance to hear about AHEC’s ‘Forward Thinking’ strategy and learn how creative marketing and promotion can strengthen the trade of U.S. hardwoods in Europe.
This year’s programme will focus on new market opportunities such as heat treatment and engineered timber and how, with an effective environmental strategy, American hardwoods can meet future market demands for legality and sustainability. The convention is free to attend for U.S. hardwood exporters and European traders, distributors and manufacturers who import U.S. hardwoods.
The key topics to be discussed over the course of the two-day event have been identified which include, AHEC promotion at work; new technologies for enhanced performance; heat treatment of American hardwoods; engineered hardwood for structural applications; using environmental profiling to market sustainability; meeting the challenge – a view from the U.S. hardwood industry; U.S. hardwoods – a legal and sustainable resource; and implementation and impact of EUTR on Europe’s hardwood markets.
