In an exclusive interview with Raphaël Prati, Corporate Marketing and Communications Director, Biesse SpA gave us a detailed insight.

woodandpaneleurope Tell us about the responses on BiesseInside. How had been the feedback from your clients? Did the event satiate your expectations?
  Raphaël Prati:The 2013 edition of BiesseInside event has achieved a great result. Approximately 2,200 people visited our Headquarters in Pesaro for the three day event, increasing the number of companies from all over the world by 35% in respect to the last edition. It has been a great opportunity to show our main technologies news to clients and prospective clients from all over the world.
 
woodandpaneleurope What will be your focus in the machinery segment?
  Raphaël Prati: We are focusing in particular on the new AirForce hot air edgebanding technology, an ultimate system for applying edgebanding won the “Visionary Award” for product innovation at the AWFS 2013 exhibition. The new software bSolid entirely developed in Biesse that is revolutionising the relationship between the CNC machine and the operator. Also, we have launched during BiesseInside event the latest automatic Winstore stack building machine for the production lines customised for clients.
 
woodandpaneleurope Tell us more about bSolid and the industry’s response towards it. Where does it marvel compared to other existing woodworking softwares?
  Raphaël Prati: In respect to other existing software bSolid is a very simple, user-friendly solution with an intuitive approach allowing any user to access sophisticated features guaranteeing simplified process management, improved performance and reduced machining times. The feedback about bSolid from the market is very positive. Thanks to bSolid, customer can set the geometry with a few gestures, follow the instructions on the screen and behold the piece comes to life to produce and develop all operations required to build it.
 
woodandpaneleurope In tandem with the current economic situation, are we going to see any change in market concentration?
  Raphaël Prati: Some changes are actually occurring: expansion in Turkey, Middle East, Southern America specially thanks to CNC technology becoming accessible to a wider range of customers (entry level machinery) and easy to use software. Northern America is gaining strength back confirming a positive trend boosted also by Biesse AWFS exhibition results and recent open house events in USA and Canada.
 
woodandpaneleurope Do you have plans to focus more on Asian market?
  Raphaël Prati: We are consolidating there our position developing and supporting business in the Far East, while carrying on with a medium term manufacturing and commercial project in China, which is
granting already excellent results for our company.

 
woodandpaneleurope What will be your overall planning for 2014?
  Raphaël Prati: Further improving service to our worldwide customers investing in solutions that will make it possible for the woodworking industry to manufacture pieces of furniture doors and windows, in a simpler way, reducing costs and in shorter times, being thus able to deliver their goods rapidly and gaining competitiveness.
 
woodandpaneleurope What is the reason behind Biesse joining Acimall, and what is your agenda for Xylexpo 2014?
  Raphaël Prati: Our comeback in Acimall stems from the renovation process undertaken by the association in order to adapt to the competitive sceneries of this sector. The changes of their management is a strong signal of their will of renovate, the basis to support the Italian companies getting opportunity of business from all over the world. For this reason, we are also considering possible participation in the next Xylexpo 2014, an event that will have to bring a real return on investment to its major actors.
