ZOW 2020 –gearing up to redefine supplier affair and trading

 Wednesday, November 27, 2019

ZOW 2020, the most awaited business event for trade fairs, meetings and more is scheduled from February 4 to 6 at the Lippe town of Bad Salzuflen. ZOW – the supplier fair for the furniture and interiors industry is expected to evolve as a pemiere stage, market platform, development workshop and communication event, but also a popular venue for seminars and meetings on issues concerning the furniture industry. This fair caters to niche clients and creates exclusive opportunity for trading and the trade fair is located in the middle of one of the world’s largest furniture industry clusters – and with regard to the kitchen industry, right in the heart of this global standard-setting sector.

The next meeting of the AMK’s (Mannheim) working group “Standardisation & Technology” will take place there. The AMK represents the interests of the entire German kitchen sector. This is where partners within the “kitchen” value chain coordinate across all sectors of the industry such as impactful public events across all sectors of the industry, especially the renowned “Kitchen Day” or basic technical standardisations. Around 150 experts from the association’s member companies are active in working groups and develop potential solutions for issues that are of key importance for the kitchen industry as a whole.

The “Technology & Standardisation” working group responsible for this will now be holding its next meeting at ZOW 2020 in Bad Salzuflen. The location has been carefully chosen because the bulk of the German kitchen furniture industry is located in the surrounding region of southern Lower Saxony and the northern part of Westphalia-Lippe. The date of the ZOW supplier fair is also the starting point for the new sampling cycle: Supplier innovations are presented at the beginning of the year, implemented in the model development process in the spring and introduced to the trade for the first time at the manufacturers’ in-house exhibitions in the fall, which then opens up the new kitchen season starting at Christmas.

It is therefore only natural for AMK experts to exchange information about the latest product developments directly on site, gain new insights and be involved in the discussion with ZOW exhibitors in the ongoing innovation cycle. The meeting participants also use ZOW to look beyond their own industry by picking up on trends and using synergies with other industry segments. Because the once separate spatial boundaries and functional areas within the home are dissolving everywhere: Today, living, sleeping, chatting, cooking and dining are no longer bound to a specific location, but rather blend together in a pleasant way, including the corresponding furniture and furnishings.

The meeting between kitchen experts and exhibitors in the special area for lightweight construction in the furniture industry curated by the igeL e.V. association also promises to be very interesting. For this, igeL managing director Peter Kettler together with his exhibiting companies are planning an exclusive tour and selected demonstrations of lightweight construction. After all, the kitchen furniture industry is just as affected by material savings and scarcity of raw materials as by consumer demand for added value and hidden electronic features in modern fitted kitchens. In addition, logistics reports demands for goods ordered online to be lightweight so that two people can carry and assemble them such as kitchen cupboards.

For ZOW, the interest of the AMK industry organisation in this business event underscores one thing: That it goes without saying that in a small place, ZOW is where supply and demand can be brought together and fast purchasing decisions made without a lot of effort – in other words, just like a real marketplace. At the right time, at the right place, with the right partners!
