Zimmer Group achieves Red Dot Design Award

 Monday, July 9, 2018

zimmerJust weeks after taking home four IF DESIGN Awards, the Zimmer Group, a specialist in wood, metal and plastic processing technology, has now bagged the internationally renowned Red Dot Design Award six times over for its stylish gripper models.

Besides featuring pioneering technology, the high-end mechanical and systems engineering solutions from the Zimmer Group boast striking designs and lend an exciting flair to an otherwise dull workshop. The company’s creative efforts certainly haven’t gone unnoticed, as only a few weeks after securing four IF DESIGN Awards, the company has been showered with yet more praise. The eminent figures on the Red Dot Design Award judging panel singled out the Zimmer Group an impressive six times with the coveted seal of quality in the industrial equipment, machines and automation categories. Besides the four grippers already honored with the IF Award, the winning products included the GPP5000 pneumatic parallel gripper, the GPD5000IL hybrid centric gripper, the GED5000 hybrid centric gripper, the GEP2000 electric parallel gripper, the GEP5000 electric parallel gripper and, last but not least, the GEH6000 electric long stroke gripper.

Staff at Zimmer are elated and extremely proud to have won yet another of the world’s most coveted design awards. And rightly so, as the grippers will be featured in the Red Dot yearbook and even allocated their own exhibition space in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. Marcel Pfeiffer, Design & Marketing Manager at the Zimmer Group, reveals the secret to the company’s success: “The Zimmer Group’s clear design philosophy organizes products into functional units and conveys longevity, quality and innovative prowess. The design not only projects the appearance of the products, but most importantly their function.” The Red Dot Design Awards will be officially presented on July 9, 2018 during the traditional Red Dot Gala in Essen’s opera house, the Aalto Theater. More than 1,000 guests from the fields of design, industry, commerce and media are expected to attend.
