Wintersteiger plays a key role in Panama Canal construction

wintersteigerAfter 8 years of construction, the expansion of the Panama Canal was officially opened on June 26, 2016th The WINTERSTEIGER AG from Ried yielded 240 Drying cabinets for working clothes of staff at the locks.

 

The Panama Canal is one of the most important trade routes in the world: With 80 km it connects the Atlantic and Pacific. Thus in future, larger container ships pass, the channel was deepened and expanded to include a third channel.

 

When remodeling the social rooms were equipped with WINTERSTEIGER drying cabinets: 240 drying cabinets – 120 on the Atlantic and 120 on the Pacific side – are available to the employees. The heated cabinets dry pants, jackets, boots helmets and gloves. A huge improvement of working conditions, because in the tropical climate of Panama the humid with heavy rainfall from May to December are everyday. The drying cabinets are extremely efficient and fast and are even used in the lunch break.

 

The special engineering company WINTERSTEIGER AG from Ried offers in its division at Sports drying solutions for professional drying and sterilization of ski and workwear. This includes open and closed systems, also in stainless steel, such as for the food industry.
