WEINIG witnesses huge success at LIGNA

 Friday, June 5, 2015

weinig-logoLIGNA, the world’s largest trade fair for the wood industry was a resounding success for Weinig. Buoyant interest throughout the entire duration of the event translated into a high order inflow for the leading technology provider in solid wood and panel processing.

The business unit solid wood sold a total of 190 machines and systems. This represents an increase of 21 percent compared with the previous LIGNA. Weinig subsidiary Holz-Her was also successful. The panel specialist recorded a 5 percent increase in order inflow. Some 75 Holz-Her machines found new owners in Hannover.

“My first LIGNA exceeded all expectations. I am impressed by the dynamism of the sector.”
With a stand measuring almost 4,500 sq m, Weinig and Holz-Her were among the largest exhibitors at LIGNA. Wood processing professionals from 91 countries visited both Weinig Group stands across the five days of the trade fair. “In a generally good investment climate, we were able to impress with our innovations,” CEO Wolfgang Pöschl summarized. Under the motto “Technology Initiative 2015″, Weinig presented innovations along the entire value chain. The new stage in the evolution of planing and profiling machines was a particular focus. CNC centers for window production and ripping technology with scanner integration were further highlights. Another focal point was networked production, an important topic of the future. Weinig Concept presented complex production solutions for the wood industry. The business unit panel processing presented the new generation of edge banders, which make laser edging attractive also to craftsmen. The packed press conference gave Weinig an opportunity to deliver some positive figures. Turnover increased by 6.3% last year. Wolfgang Pöschl added that the company was currently trading ahead of 2015 targets.

LIGNA itself broke records with 5% growth in visitors, of whom some 40 percent came from abroad. Another striking statistic was the further increase in the number of decision-makers, which has always been the hallmark of the world’s leading trade fair. New Weinig Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Gregor Baumbusch sums up: “My first LIGNA exceeded all expectations. I am impressed by the dynamism of the sector.” Weinig is confident of strong follow-up business both in the solid wood sector and panel processing.
