The father of Indian Woodworking Industry, Ramu Ramakrishnan Passes Away

Ramu RamakrishnanThe week started with a great loss for the woodworking industry in India. Ramu Ramakrishnan  passed away on Sunday February 07. He had been suffering since the last few months and breathed his last following three heart attacks in the ICU at a city hospital in Bengaluru.
Ramu Ramakrishnan  had been the guiding star behind the ever growing wood and panel industry in India. Under his mentorship, Homag and Leitz started their operations in India. He had been the Chairman of Homag India Pvt Ltd. Since the last thirteen years, he had been the Executive Director of Leitz Tooling Systems India Pvt. Ltd and the Managing Director of Ramu Machinery Pvt. Ltd.

An alumnus of IIT Madras, Ramu Ramakrishnan had always been showing the industry newer way to attain greater heights. His presence in the major shows of India, viz Indiawood, Delhiwood, IKCS has catalysed the growth of the Indian woodworking and kitchen industry.

“It is indeed a great loss for the Indian woodworking industry. A person of immense knowledge and vast experience, he had been a great support right from the inception of Wood & Panel. He was the only person from the industry who encouraged me and believed digital publication is the future. I will miss meeting him in various shows all over the world. May his soul rest in peace.” concluded Apratim Ghoshal, editor-in-chief and vice president, Wood & Panel.
