Already in 2017, Schattdecor presented their four trend topics “Micro Housing”, “Community Zone”, “Ageless Living” and “Smart Home” in detail. For these areas, a total of nine decors have emerged, for which they have great market potential: “Biscay Oak”, “Teramo”, “Corodona” “Kitami”, “Iceland Pine”, “Jackson Hickory”, “Ventura Chestnut” , “Catania oak” and “Cuscino”. In addition, there are two decors each in the various main markets, which have been specially selected for these markets.
Oak trend remains
As in 2017, the oak will continue to dominate the decor world. In addition, wood species such as chestnut, hickory and Rüster get a chance. So you look for wood, which are similar to the oak for a solid material and continue to be well suited for haptic surfaces. An example of this is our decor “Jackson Hickory”, which was already the most discussed decor on the Sicam. This decor scores above all with its naturalness and represents an alternative to the oak trend.
Where is the decor trip going?
Demographic change, digitization and a more conscious use of our environment will continue to influence the individual design of living spaces in 2018. The focus is on the naturalness and the authentic expression of decors. In this context, a very important question has occupied them with the development of the Decor Selection 2018: How “rustic” do schattdecor wants or may they be in decorating in the future? In general, this begs the question of what is meant by “rustic” in the beginning. They also interviewed their colleagues worldwide and discovered various interpretations of the term “rustic”. In general, this is what we mean by decors with heavy cracks, branches and extreme defects. Used or DIY looks also fall under this category.
Subtle rusticity
The global trade fair feedback has shown them that retailers continue to rely on rustic decors – which are highly popular with end consumers. This is mainly due to the fact that the highly rustic designs stand for naturalness and represent a real, used material. Only now is the rustic trend in shops and living rooms around the world clearly. Without question, “rustic” has increased – from “saw-cut” to extreme defects.
