SURTECO introduces a new process for full-width digital printing

Surface specialist SURTECO is taking a step ahead with the introduction of a new process for full-width digital printing. This process will help customers produce decorative surfaces for furniture and flooring in a much flexible and resource-efficient way in future.

Customer benefits

The system can be used to produce high-quality decor prints up to 225 cm wide – with several decors on one roll and a repeat length of up to six meters. Unconventional structures and large colour spaces are also possible even with the smallest batch sizes. Even dimensionally critical decor papers can be printed with the machine configuration. New creative designs such as fantasy decors – are no problem either.

“The system opens up completely new possibilities for our customers in terms of flexibility, quality and decor variety,” summarizes Robert Vancko, Head of Business Unit Surfaces.

Sustainability funding

SURTECO has been able to develop the new digital printing process in recent years and bring it to market maturity with the help of funding. The funding was awarded in 2017 as a part of the Environmental Innovation Program of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and was administered by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) in subsequent years.

Since 1979, the Environmental Innovation Program has supported companies in putting innovative and environmentally friendly processes into practice to combine ecological and economic requirements.

SURTECO GROUP SE, based in Buttenwiesen, is a medium-sized, internationally active, listed company. The company unites leading national and international brands in surface technology under one roof. The extensive product portfolio includes printed decor papers, impregnates, release papers, decorative surface films and edgebanding based on special technical papers and plastics, as well as plastic skirtings, technical profiles for industry and roller shutter systems and coated fabrics.

The company manufactures its products at 26 locations on four continents worldwide and employs around 3,800 people. In 2022, the company generated annual sales of € 748 million and EBIT of € 40 million.
