Sylva Wood opens to a fantastic fourth edition

 Monday, June 25, 2018

indexSylva Wood’s fourth edition started on June 25 in the multi-cultural metropolis of Shanghai. With the success of past shows, Sylva Wood continues to attract global exhibitors such as the Russian wood suppliers — which forms the Russian Pavilion, American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) — forming one of the largest AHEC pavilions, French Timber, Canada Wood, the Shanghai Timber Trade Association, American Softwoods, Malaysian Timber Council, Quebec Wood Export Bureau, Smaland of Sweden and Thai Timber Association.

Visitors visiting the event come from countries as far as Austria, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, USA and Uruguay. This year, Sylva Wood 2018 is expected to draw about 4,500 visitors, with professionals from different aspects of the wood industry. The organiser, together with BIFA, will launch the inaugural BIFA Wood Vietnam this October to bring industry players closer to the Vietnamese wood processing and furniture manufacturers in the furniture cluster of Binh Duong, Vietnam.

“The show has been improving. It focuses on wood materials and is very useful for our members. We’ve got a pretty good number of visitors visiting and they are professional timber trade people. The members are very happy so I believe this is a quality show that is valuable for us,” said John Chan, AHEC’s regional director. Sylva Wood continues to provide a great opportunity for global suppliers and buyers of wood materials and wood-based products to trade, network and exchange ideas on how best to
expand reach into the China market – one of the biggest players in the timber industry.

The three-days show also had a line-up of exciting seminars including the exploration of ‘The Relationship Between Supply and Demand in the Chinese Timber Market’ and ‘Industry 4.0 in the Customised Furniture Industry’. In addition, the show also brought back the well-received ‘Sylva Wood FUN Hardwood Lifestyle Design Competition’.

Sylva Wood 2018 ran from 25 to 27 June at Shanghai, China.
