Strothmann GmbH organises Autumn Conference

 Thursday, September 19, 2019

“From technicians for technicians”: This was the title of the Siempelkamp subsidiary Strothmann Machines & Handling GmbH’s invitation to the autumn conference. The conference, which brought together around 80 customers from industry, took place almost simultaneously with the inauguration of the new assembly hall of the handling and automation specialist within the Siempelkamp Group.

Strothmann presented his two core areas of work, press automation and RoundTrack® systems, at the conference. Among the customers of press automation are above all the automotive industry and its suppliers. The company’s RoundTrack® systems in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock bring measurable efficiency advantages for numerous applications. The customer portfolio ranges from the automotive, materials, wind power and aircraft industries to manufacturers of construction modules and foodstuffs. Recently, large projects for the fully automated assembly of agricultural machinery have been won in agricultural engineering. The technology enables productive and efficient flow assembly, cycle assembly or intralogistics.

The eye-catcher of the conference was the prototype of the “Feeder Plus 6 neo”: The robot arm, extremely manoeuvrable due to seven axes, “feeds” the presses with metal sheets, grips them and places them appropriately. “In our case, the metal sheets are used to make outer skin parts for automobiles, doors, bonnets, roofs and fenders. The standard is that there are four or five press stages behind each other,” explains Henning Seffers, Strothmann Managing Director. At the beginning of this year, Strothmann received the first order from a Chinese customer to equip a new press line with the Feeder plus 6 neo.

“Ready for take off” is not only the new feeder concept, but also the new Strothmann hall: The assembly area of the three-million-euro building is around 1,300 square meters. The new hall has a span of 30 meters, a crane system with which 25 tons and another with which ten tons can be lifted. The building is 14 meters high. New working environments were created in the assembly area and in offices, and all assembly stations are height-adjustable. The company has an extension property directly adjacent to the new hall, which opens up new perspectives.

Strothmann Machines & Handling GmbH has 140 employees and plans a turnover of almost 40 million euros in 2019.
