Schattdecor expands impregnation facilities worldwide

 Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Underlining the theme of, ” One Source. Unlimited Solutions. “the Schattdecor group, in 2018 has invested worldwide in the expansion of impregnation facilities and production halls at our locations in Italy, Brazil, Russia, and China. By doing so Schattdecor positions itself also as a global independent impregnator and offers additional service, first-hand, to our customers in the furniture and wood-based materials industry. The surface specialist reacts to market needs with the constant innovative and visionary upgrading of core competencies and new products, filling another industry segment, and taking the next step towards the future. The message to the customer: From concept to finished surface – Schattdecor does it all! With the implementation of this investment program, the company is able to react faster, more independently and quantitatively to the constantly growing demand from the international markets and work on new ideas, products, and infrastructures.

Klaus Müller, Executive Sales Director Processed Surfaces: “It is our job to make sure that the company is seen as an independent, international impregnator.” The planned status quo after completion of all investments: Schattdecor will produce in four countries on 15 impregnation channels. Klaus Müller: “Something really big is happening in the world of Schattdecor. This additional service we are able to offer opens up new possibilities. For instance, as an independent impregnator we are able to provide a quick and targeted supply of new design collections to customers even in smaller quantities with large-format product quality, or as finishers offer competent solutions and service packages on demand. We are also now able to further expand our market position in the extremely competitive plain-colored, white decor market segment and capitalize on new potentials. The same applies to technical melamine films – Teclay, meaning overlay and alternatives to laminate floor manufacturing. These additional competencies basically provide us with more avenues of activity, market shares, new aspects and incentives for the future!”

The demand from the Italian and international markets, which has been growing in recent years, is being met with an expansion of machinery and production facilities in Italy for even more capacity. Following the acquisition of Coveright do Brasil in 2013, Schattdecor in Brazil decided to use its existing technical infrastructure to serve a demanding market and expand its own product and service portfolio. The optimization of that work was completed in 2018. Investments were also made in Russia in 2018: in Tyumen, in two new resin impregnation channels, in Tschechov, in a state-of-the-art printing and impregnation center with a new plant. Apart from classic melamine films, today’s product range also includes pigmented melamine films (super white) as well as decors and technical finish layers for flooring applications. In addition, Schattdecor sees great potential in the Asian region and is increasingly investing in this promising market. In 2014, the construction of an impregnation site started with Schattdecor joint venture, Saintdecor, in China. Today, the plant with its modern system technology is one of the most advanced in China.
