LIGNA 2021: Preparations under way for the new chapter

 Tuesday, June 18, 2019

“Stories don’t end, they just turn into new beginnings” – Lindsay Eagar.

Although one of the most happening editions of  LIGNA is over but we can still sense the hangover. The woodworking industry has seen the success of LIGNA 2019 and already started the countdown of the next one. The five-day LIGNA.19 closed on an impressive note. The world’s leading trade fair for woodworking gave a considerable boost to the industry, paving the way for future investment. Advanced, innovative solutions were at the top of the agenda during the five days of the show. “Getting smart” regarding digitization and automation will continue at the next LIGNA event, taking place from May 10 to 14, 2021 in Hannover. The most prominent woodworking show in the world has started its preparation once again for 2021 edition.

Trends and innovations for the upcoming edition will be:

Automation
Manufacturers of wood processing machinery concentrated on automation and integrated systems, especially on modular technologies as a gateway to digitization. The approach here is one of end-to-end digitization – with concepts spanning everything from planning and design to production and monitoring – as opposed to individual solutions.

Robotics Technology
Robotics technology is increasingly becoming the norm across all areas of industrial manufacturing. The surface-finishing link in the value chain is being integrated into the overall production system. Automated guided vehicle systems are optimizing material flows. Advanced central system control modules are intelligently managing the associated data.

All-in-one solutions
All-in-one solutions can efficiently bring together multiple standalone machines to create an integrated process flow. The show also featured new developments in saw technology with a new self-learning scanner technology being able to increase the industrial safety using artificial intelligence in woodworking.
