 Wednesday, January 25, 2017

biesse_11During Expomueblera, Wood & Panel Europe spoke to Luca Terenzi, product area manager, Biesse, to know more on the Latin American market, industry 4.0 and lot more. Excerpts from the interview:

WPE: What is ur presence in the Mexican market?

Luca Terenzi (LT):  Calegris is one of the two major brands in Mexico and together with Felder who has made some recent improvements. Basically we are with the main brands who are the pillars of the market in Mexico. These are the brands that are facing the local market providing them with technical system and also sales service. Calegris is one of the most successful brands in this regional market. Calegris has a new showroom here in Mexico City, where they are exhibiting the machinery that we have available here at the show so that the customers can get an on hand experience before the sales. We have the technicians specialised in software so that they can provide support to the customers for their project, the programming and the situation in the machine.

WPE:  Where do you place yourself when it comes to Industry 4.0?

LT: Locally we have very large customers to whom we are trying to introduce the newest technologies. They are still at integration phase. They do have large projects, they are working on the software integration and machining. But obviously this is just the starting year in Mexico. In Europe, you will be able to see Biesse’s latest technologies, but here we need to go step by step. For example speaking about Latin America, Brazil, they have totally automated plants for several years. At the moment because of the economic situation they have paused, but they have advanced a lot in the Brazilian market and they are planning to do the same here as well.

They have sales agencies in each country so Brazil has two sales agencies, Mexico has three sales agencies, Columbia has their own agency- they have this collaboration who offers the equipments along with technical service and post sales service. Every country now has their own showroom where they are updating technology all the time from Italy directly. They offer training to these people so that they are updated with the latest technologies. Each sales agent in the region has a system by which they can request spare parts directly from Italy. And for urgent cases when the machine is broken, they have one day delivery period.
