interzum to represent an impressive March

 Monday, March 6, 2017

interzum awardIn the first month of the year, everything in the interior design industry revolved around new launches and trends. Industry professionals may still be talking about the current home living trends presented at the trade fair duo imm cologne/LivingKitchen, but interzum is already just around the corner. Just like the other exhibitions in Cologne, the trade fair will again act as a stage for the latest developments and products by the interior construction industry’s supplying sections. interzum blog posts from January demonstrate how companies are setting new trends with their designs and simultaneously adapting their ideas to people’s needs.

Design is not “art for art’s sake”, but always firmly grounded in the current realities of life, and this is something that Schattdecor emphasises. The manufacturer of printed decor paper presents three trend themes for 2017 in its trend book: New Clarity, Tinted Black and Global Spirit. Each of these themes has its own style, but they all embody tranquillity, clarity and individuality. Our day-to-day lives are becoming more and more hectic, and the feeling that nothing is permanent is getting stronger and stronger. So it is only natural that interzum is seeking places where they can retreat — and where better place for a beacon of calm than in their own homes?

New Clarity for its part works superbly with GERA Leuchten. The company has made attractive home design its mission and turns it into reality with its light shelves. Taking “Light carries” as its motto, it combines light sources and furniture, and sets new standards in room lighting. For GERA Leuchten, light is much more than a lamp: light designs rooms. Designing light sources requires an architectural perspective. GERA Leuchten therefore places great value on the design process and innovative results. The company’s exhibits at imm cologne included the results of its collaboration with young designers from Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle: two lights designed by GERA Leuchten with two students that are perfectly aligned with the company’s philosophy of functionality meets design.

The average person spends a whole eight years of his or her life at work. That is quite some time! And it is a clear reminder that, in addition to new products for private residences, they sometimes also need new designs for office products. Hettich promises higher efficiency at work, enhanced productivity and improved well-being for employees with its ideas for the worlds of work. The company attaches great importance in its design process to ensuring that its products are suitable for diverse uses. The realities of contemporary lifestyles therefore guide its work.

So much creativity and such a strong design focus must be rewarded: manufacturers can now enter their product innovations for the interzum award. And for up-and-coming designers, the eighth VDID Newcomers’ Award will be presented at interzum 2017. All in all, there are plenty of good reasons to look forward to interzum in May!

The countdown has started: there are about 100 days to go before interzum opens. The leading trade fair for furniture production and interiors will once again set the trends this year and provide yet more proof of its relevance to the creative industries.
